Those days of making money online is gone (for me) Posted on: 08-28-2007 @ 10:47 pm |

I've been playing poker online since Chris Moneymaker won his bracelet. I've played PartyPoker, Pokerstars, and Fulltilt. The first 2 years were great making $2,000 each year on .10/.25 NL tables. THEN SOMETHING HAPPENED.
The US govenment decided to ban online poker (sort of). My favorite site partypoker went down but others remained. I kept playing on those "other" sites that slipped through the laws but noticed something..I was now a consistant loser. But how?
I played the same, but everything seemed to back fire. Bad Beats, 20 outers not catching, and those damn river cards. At one point i was convinced that along with the ban of online poker came rigged sites. (only logical..less players playing so the site have to make up the profit somehow). But then there's two other reasons i came up with.
1) The ban cleared out a lot of the fish playing, too scared to get in trouble with the law. Only the addicted, true gamblers stay and continue to play. This means harder competition for everyone.
AND
2)The popularity of high aggression online. Seems like any flush draw/straight draw on the board, players go all-in or call all-in now. This is where a shitload of my badbeats come from. I DON'T RECALL SEEING SO MANY ALL-INS WITH DRAWS WHEN I FIRST STARTED.
I'm writing this blog to see if anyone feels the same way because losing on a 8 outter over and over, then playing another 2 hours to make your money back is not fun. As the old saying goes "If it don't make money, it don't make sense"

Comment By: onemore (Posted on 08-29-2007 @ 05:49 pm) Comment: Well you could be right with the reason that more experienced players carried on playing after the new law. Also less new players start playing now.
I do not really think that casinos are rigged. You could also be going through an unlucky period. |
