HoldemPokerCalc User Guide

To start using the Holdempokercalc program, you will need to download and install it first. Once installed you can double click on the program icon on your desktop or click on it from it's start menu program group to start the program. Holdempokercalc will search for a valid poker room until it finds one and attach itself to the table window. It will then start reading your cards as you are dealt and calculate the hand odds for you as demonstrated below.

This is the first stage of the hand as you are dealt your hole cards. Only the win % and hand rank can be calculated at this first stage of the hand. The win % is the average number of times this starting hand has won against the number of opponents still in the hand against you. The hand rank shows how good this starting hand is relative to the list of 169 possible starting hands in Texas holdem poker.

After the flop we can start analysing the hand right up to the river. The main odds in red circle now shows your chances of winning this hand until the river card. The less opponents still in the hand the higher this % will be relative to the strength of your hand. Your tie % and the total number of outs (the cards still in the deck which can improve your hand) are also shown. The hand rank does not change as your hole cards are constant until the end of this hand.

As you can see the current hand rank after the flop is "High Card Ace" indicated under the cards section. Odds of finishing this hand to the river with the same hand ranking (ie. still no pair) is 22%. Odds of nnding up with 1 pair at the river is 33% which involves 6 outs (3 unseen Aces and 3 sixes). There is also 35% chance that you will end up with a flush involving 9 outs (needing one of the next 2 cards to be one of the remaining 9 clubs).

The other %s are probable outcomes but unlikely. As they do not have outs next to them, to end up with a straight for example will need both of the next 2 cards to be favorable. The opponent odds show what one of your opponents (the one with the strongest hand) from the remaining players might have until the river.

After the turn the hand ended up with a pair of aces. In the main odds window, the overall win % has increased to 85% against a single opponent (as everyone else have folded). The chances of still having a single pair after the river is 52%. There are 3 outs of ending up with 2 pair at the end of the hand (the remaining 3 sixes) and 2 outs for catching 3 of a kind (the remaining 2 aces). The odds for these outcomes are 24% and 4% respectively. The reason for the probality of 24% for 2 pair is the possibility of the river card being a king, a five or a jack as well as a six. However as the first 3 cards could also improve your opponents' hands only the sixes are counted as outs.

There are still 9 outs for a flush if the river card ends up being a club and the possibility of that outcome is 20%. The odds of what your opponent might end up with are displayed on the bottom.

After the river card things are a lot clearer. The odds of winning the hand is 83% and the possibility of a tie is 4%. The final hand rank is a pair of aces. There is a 40% chance that your opponent has no pair and 50% chance that he has single pair. The overall win odds of 83% is calculated taking the kicker card into account.
