I was wondering if anyone had advice on how much I should take to the table.
Seems to me that playing against guys that have loads of chips gives them a big advantage. : |

Agreed, only play wth what you can afford to loose.
However, the 'Tips and Tricks' in this sites How To Play section seems to recommend that you should have 40 to 50 times the table limit. |

If you are playing Limit, buy in for twice the recommended table requirements, this allows for normal variance and stops you from having to rebuy when you get to half your stack(not good for morale to re-buy)
Have 300 Big Bets in your Bank Roll to cover yourself long term to avoid going broke due to a very bad run of cards.E.G. $300 for Party Poker $0.5/$1 Limit.
Another advantage for buying in for double is that people joining after you will think that you are a good player and be a bit careful playing with you. |
