Post subject: who takes the flush....

being amaturs, me and some buddies got into a debate about flush hands... if the high flush card is on the table, like the ace, does the person holding the next highest card take the pot, or is it split?

Ok,The pot is split if the second highest flush card on the board beats all the players highest flush cards.
For you to win the pot with, say an Ace high flush on the board, your highest flush card must beat second highest flush on the board and your opponents highest flush card.
Hope that solves it,see you out there at the tables.

Interesting. Is this something that is well known? I would hate to argue this point at a game. Assume for a minute that the A,K are on the table, my opponent holds the Q, and I hold the J, and there are two smaller suited cards in play. It would appear that my opponent would win the hand, but according to your description, we would split. I would hate to look like a poor loser if I were to argue the point. Any suggestions? Thanks for the great topic of discussion.

I got caught with the high flush card rule many times until I had to learn the rules. If u have the A u should have no problems winning the flush hand.
