I only play freerolls now. All sites offer daily freerolls, if you register with each poker room but don't deposit any money, you can play all day for free and practise your game. When you start winning cash in freerolls then you are ready to start playing with your own money |

Hi Onemore,
That's not a bad strategy for new players. We will have our own freeroll for members here soon (our 5th) and as you know it's better than any other freeroll you'll find because hardly anyone takes part! Details will be posted on this site shortly (and emailed to all members) |

| Hi, I'm brand new to this forum. One thing I've noticed about my own play is that I can finish in the money a lot of times in freerolls, but if I invest even as little as $1 in a buy-in tourney, even if it has mega-bucks added to the prize fund, I lose. I've kept track of my last 71 buy-in tourneys, most of them $1.10 or under buy-in + entry fee. I am down $68. I'm confident that it is just a matter of luck and that in time, I will get a big win and wipe out the $68 negative figure, but it's possible that I need to adjust my strategy when going from a freeroll to a cheaproll. Anyone else ever experienced what I am experiencing? |

| The almost freerolls ($1 entry) require a slight adjustment to your play. All in high pocket pair rarely gets a call so you have to play these hands differently to maximize your return on your premium hands. |

Interesting Zing,
There is most definitely a difference between freeroll play and real money play, but I'm surprised to see a big difference at such low stakes. I've never tried those, so sorry can't advise much. I would recommend you read some of the articles I wrote which scroll on the bottom of the homepage. The last one on NL tournament strategy may be of use to you. It's important to recognise the various stages of a tournament alter your play for each section and learn to use table position correctly. Simple things like never raise if your first to act with a good hand.
I think Saturday's Freeroll will be very realistic. My freerolls will be different to many that you may have played in because $1000 is a large prize pool for a Texas Holdem Freeroll - especially if you consider that with half a week to go only 120 or so are registered.
Good luck - you could easily recoup your $70 and more. Stick around, and play them every month. |
