| The other night, I was playing in a points tournament. One of the players lost most of his chips, got upset and left the table. He had $300 in chips left on the table. Blinds were at $200, $400. When it came time for him to become BB, the dealer put his chips in the pot. There were 4 callers at the table. After the flop and turn, I was the only person left in the had. The dealer flipped over the guys cards (who wasn't at the table) and he had a better hand than me. I got all the side pots, but the dealer game him the original pot of the 4 callers. This happened again when he was the small blind. All of the sudden, he had $3600 or so in chips and wasn't even at the table. What is the ruling on Player's who quit or not at the table? |

The dealer played this correctly - you were unlucky not to win against a blind hand. Players that leave are always blinded in when its their turn. In the case of the first hand there's nothing much you could do about that.
It does sound to me as though the second hand was not played correctly. Lets say the missing player had $2000 after his lucky win as big blind. The next hand, as small blind, he would be folded for not having made the big blind. So he can't win this one. The hand is immediately folded when it comes to his turn to make the big blind, and in absentia you can't have someone put the extra in for you. It would be incorrect to create a pot (side or main) for the small blind due to absence.
The next time this player is big blind he would be folded as soon as someone raises. Therefore you get blinded away if you are not present except for the all-in at the end. |

I was confused about that small blind also. Didn't think there was any way he could have stayed in that hand.
But as to the big blind winning - happens ALL the time online. It's frustrating, but them's the rules! |
