|
|
Ok, I've rearranged the big $1000 Freeroll. As can be seen from the forum I took a lot of flack from some of our newer members for the failure of the last tournament . I'd like to move on with the monthly roadshow and actually give away $1000 this time.
THERE WILL BE NO REBUYS at all, and the tournament will take place as same time and place as before at 7pm Eastern time on Saturday 25th February.
Please see the Freeroll Tournament link in the top left box for joining instructions. I'll be playing as MooBaaLaLaLa again, and I hope to see you at the tables. |

| Was very nice tournament. I enjoy it very much. There were a lot of sitouts there:))) Maybe next time will be nice to workout some shortnotice confirmation for the tournament? |

Yes, I think everyone had a really good time. I have a couple of issues with tournaments at the moment as follows:
1) Last minute entrants coming in from other sites to play. They join as members on the last day (usually the last hour) to take part.
2) Sitouts are annoying. Either your going to play or you're not, and hoping be blinded into the prizemoney is not going to happen. Also it makes the game a little artificial.
So, to deal with these issues I plan to develop a points system. Members will be awarded points for participation on my site - something like:
a) a comment is awarded 2 points
b) a forum post gets 5 points
c) a blog entry gets 10 points
Anyone who has posted in the past will get points for posts made up to this point. The idea is that each $1000 freeroll will cost members 5 points, so all you need to enter is a single post (not much in my opinion, tournament entry will still be free).
The advantage for me is that I build a vibrant poker community on my site, and the upside for all members is they get to enter what are sure to be smaller freerolls (because only 10% of members attend as it is and lots will be put off by a requirement to post a comment or two).
On the issue of sending out the password. The points system will be set up such that if you have the points then you will be emailed the password to enter 2 hours before the start. This prevents freeloaders and other sites from riding on the coat tails of my tournaments and will fix the issue of sitouts.
The end March tourney should therefore be a great opportunity for active members such as the ones that already post because it'll be like the early days where hardly anyone turned up! I've a little work to do here to set that up, but once it's done I'll email all members with the details. |

| No problem Drew, good to see you here. No getting away from QQ at that stage in a tourney. I've always maintained that it's possible with skill and a small amount of luck (luck avoiding certain traps rather than luck catching cards) to get to the top 10 in a tournament. Progressing beyond that is often luck. |
