Post subject: Analyze this

I'm in bb with a very short stack about 1000 chips, blinds are at 100/200. i'm dealt A 8 of clubs, no raises and only 3 callers including big stack. flop is A 8 4. With top two pair i push all in, get one caller Mr big stack and he turns over J 10, i'm thinking sweet. flop is a 9 and river is a 7. Did i do something wrong here?

I would have done the same. I think you just been very unlucky on that hand which unfortunetly happens from time to time.

Not at all, you played it perfectly but were the victim of a bad beat. Negative variance hits us all from time to time, and it's particularly annoying when it hits you with runner, runner at very long odds. I had a recent example that was similar which I wrote about in my poker blog where post flop I was allin with King King against Queen high. Turn and River came Queen, Queen !

You couldn't have done anything else. You were lowstacked and that was you best chance to double up. You just got very unlucky Sad

I would say you overplayed the hand and didn't need to push because you wanted action but you got the action from exactly the hand you wanted it from. Foe was a moron or a site bot.

You played right. This was a bad call from your opponent. You may have suffered from a lack of luck. Very Happy

I think you did the right thing. The problem is when people call with such bad hands. The other player had nothing and called. I don't know what he was thinking with an ace on the flop.

Oh well, that's poker.
