You are at a fairly passive table.
You're on the button with a couple of high cards, something like: JT, QJ, KJ, QT, KT, KQ. There are some limpers in front of you. Let's say you limp as well. SB limps or folds, BB checks.
Flop comes rags and rainbow. It gets checked around to the guy on your right. He bets. You have two overcards.
When would you fold, and when would you raise to chase out the riff raff and go for a free card if you don't hit a pair on the Turn? I've been raising here but always scared as I keep thinking once of the others might have caught a pair.
How should I play this ? |

| Limit or no limit? Either way I'm probably folding, but in no limit I'm definitely folding. You still have to deal with the blinds and limpers. Just because they checked doesn't mean they are all weak. Someone could be trapping with a set or other strong hand (or a timid player could be calling down with a strong hand). The bettor could have a strong hand as well. Catching top pair might not even be good enough to win. Pretty easy fold. |

| With 2 overcards you have 6 outs so if the pot is laying you the correct odds to call thats what you have to do. |

Well if the table is very tight and defensive, playing agressivelly on the flop and 4th street can be a good play in my opinion if you re on the button. Betting after the flop should get the high cards to fold. Then betting again on 4th street can get a 2nd, bottom pair or even top pair with a weak kicker to fold. This works even better when a scare card comes on the turn (like a A, K or Q), because even if it doesn't help your hand, it is often scary for your opponant. I often do that in tournament against short-stacks. They usually dont want to move-in all their chips with a small pair.
But folding isn't a bad play of course.
I also think you definitely should avoid small raises because you can get in trouble if some one was on a draw and gets lucky on 4th street. If they want to hit their straight they have to pay for it!
But it all depends on your style of playing |

2 overcards aren't much use if someone else has higher overcards. I'd be taking most of those combo's off my list of overcards.
The least I'd stay in with would be AK....
....and there aren't many better overcards than that |
