Hi,
I'm new to online poker play, but can't get enough of PartyPoker. I get a real buzz out of playing for real money. Not that I'm spending loads of it, but the thrill of poker against real people and for proper cash is amazing.
Need a lot more practice to beat the big boys, but I'll get there.
Anyone with more experience got any advice? |

Someone to talk to, great!!
Yeh, got to agree that Party takes some beating. I've played a couple of the others, but keep coming back to this one.
Can't leave the tables when its real money at stake, time just flies.
There's definately a difference in the way people play when its for cash money. Much more carefull then when chucking it away with the pretend stuff. |

I agree - either party or empire are the best overall - especially for large tourneys. It is frustrating though that they can't update table numbers quickly enough because there are too many players. Only exception to the rule I recon is 1 on 1 heads up play where Paradise come tops. |

| Bluffoon - Party have now fixed the issue they had with table availability. They brought a raft of new servers on line in January and despite a massive increase in traffic there is no longer a queue for a seat. |

I have been palying a PP for over a year. I took $100 and had it over $600 and withdrew $400. Now since that time three weeks ago I haven't been able to win at any table on the site. I play $5 to $30 single table tourneys and some money games (usually the no-limit $50 buy in). My bankroll is down under $50 and I will not put in any more.
I have noticed two things about PP. The first is the number of hands made on the river and the second is the number of players that go out of a single table tourney on the first hand.
I know most of the people who lose quickly made bad calls but sometimes I wonder if it isn't a plan by PP to get the game over faster so more tourneys are played.
Has anyone else withdrawn money and noticed this? |

Yes, I've often heard of conspiracy theories concerning Party poker and other rooms and there is an argument in support of some of the theories. The main one would be that new players (and there are a lot of these) need help or they'll lose to more experienced players very quickly. Another one I heard was someone who thought they got better cards if they played once a week rather than daily.
I play daily on Empire (similar to Party) and weekly in a home game. In both the real and online games I've seen outrageous outs. Last week for example I lost the heads up home game to 3 consecutive belly buster straights (2 cards required to make the straight and my opponent had them on each occasion). Anyone seeing that online would cry foul.
I too would be interested in others views of the cards they receive. Personally speaking I see swings both ways and having played online daily for over a year I'm not sure I believe it. One tip I do have for anyone looking to make money in this field would be to play late on Friday or Saturday. At these times you come up against the drunks who have just rolled out of the pubs. These people are judgement impaired and will lose to any half decent player. |

I agree with your Friday night assesment. You get some bold calls and bluffs from drunks. But at the same time there are so many hands made with weak calls that you can still get burnt calling with a better hand.
I have been on party for over a year and play games in my area a few times a month. I see some pretty incredible bad beats but not to the extent that I have seen them on PP.
I played my first "live" game a few months after I started playing on PP and realized pretty soon after that I would have to adjust my play. I think there are far fewer starting hands that are "premium" types ex. AA or A-K dealt in the live games than on the internet. I have been at a table for hours and seen AA come only a couple of times. On PP it comes more frequently as is my experince.
Another thing I seem to notive is the number of times I am dealt a hand like 9-5. I have been in a single table tourney and got the same hand (different suit) 4 out of 8 hands. I guess if I were getting A-K with that frequency I would think everything was great! But at this point I feel the randomness of the card at PP is not "true" and have since set up an account on paradise. I will let you know how I find their site to play after I have been there for a few months if anyone is interested.
I did break my drought on PP today, I won a big pot when I was on the BB with 10-8 off and flopped a str8, made a small bet got a few callers chasing a flush and probably a top pair with a nice kicker who stayed all the way. That hand gave me a nice chip lead and was able to wait for good hands and got some decent flops. I even had pocket aces and put a player out with them. Unfortunately she only had 270 chips left. |

Guys,
PartyPoker and Empire are the same site. Wanna prove it. Set up a play account at both. Sit down at one table at PP. Go to empire l;ogin and go to the tazble with the same table number. you will see yourself siting there from the PP site. You could actually sit at the table twice this way.
Now I have an issue involving real play at PP. Actually its with the funding method. I used FirePay to deposit into PP from my checking account. Got the account verified, recieved the email from Firepay that they transferred my money from my bank account. Then 4 days later my account at PP is empty and I get an email from a Pay-Pro saying I owe $7100 because my $300 deposit was withdrawn by Firepay. Firepay now says my echeck bounce.my bank disagrees as does the history report ledger. I sent them a snap shot of my account showing the transfer went through for $302.95 and that they has been paid. They continue to say NO. In the mean time I am getting notices from Pay_Pro for $7100 ( they say this was and error) and also got one for $192.95 and the latest is for $325. They aslo say my withdrawal was no good. My point is if you use Firepay to fund you account at PP or anywhere be ready to have your funds removed. (I lost $107 from my account) plus Fiepay and pay_pro boh say I owe them $325 for the 1 time deposit of $300. Play it safe and only use an account that has poker money in it. I am learning my lesson.

Thanks for the input TexasIT. Empire and Party are not the same site they are sister companies (Empire spun out of Party) and they share tables. If you read my review of Empire I point it out there. They have different promotions and competitions.
On Firepay that's interesting. Never used it myself, I use Neteller and have had no issues funding or removing funds. Perhaps I should start a forum for payment providers as it's not something we have reviewed todate on this site. |
