This is from the Past Articles Section:
Titled: Getting Into The Game.
I have left most of it to it's original reading, but changed some of wording to reflect my own extensive experience, based mainly upon my consistant play during Titan's Sunday $500,000 Weekly Qualifier Freeroll, (final top 20 seats advance to the final)
"During Actual Play"
Sunday Sept, 10th at Titan's Sunday $500.000 Weekly Qualifier,
During First Table Action ... I'm dealt AA... 2 other players call the blind....
I open preflop with a raise of $80, both players call.
Flop brings Qh,7d,5c... both players check to me....
I bet the flop $700.00.... first player folds to my bet.... second player fires out all-in 1500.00...
This is only the 3rd hand dealt at the first table....
I call his all-in forcing me all-in... the turn brings another middle card 8...the rivers a 2.
I'm out of the tourney at 1080th, and 3rd hand dealt at the first table!
The player who checked off holding Q/7off had the TWO PAIR FLOP and wins.
I have been knocked out EARLY with these hands before at the Titan $500,000 Sunday Weekly Qualifier.
Pocket K's...OUT EARLY beat by TWO PAIR FLOP.
Pocket J's... OUT EARLY beat by 5/7off TWO PAIR FLOP... QQ vs. 2/6off beat by TWO PAIR FLOP.... AA vs. 9/3off beat by TWO PAIR FLOP.....
When Starting play at Titan's Sunday $500,000 Weekly Qualifier (final 20 seats place in the $500,000 Tournament final)
No Limit Freeroll Tournament at ****
You will find the exception that the "DAILY QUALIFIERS" usually play most hands to a realistic result during actual play, from tournament start to finish.
I suggest this: based on my consistant experience and play during the "Titan Sunday $500,000 Freeroll Weekly Qualifier" for a seat in the finals.
I conclude and highly recommend this become an absolute rule to follow if you are faced with holding pockets A's K's Q's J's at EARLY TABLES. DO NOT CHANCE A RAISE PRE-FLOP!
If the flop brings middle cards BEWARE AND DO NOT BET THE HAND, if no face card shows on the turn and no-one bets and your still holding your Pocket A's or K's, "only because no-one has bet hand yet" DO NOT BET THE TURN HAND, if you do face a large bet after the flop FOLD! and FOLD FAST to any LARGE BETS DURING THE HAND....
If you ever happen to see this Q,7,5 flop... DO NOT BET LARGE ON YOUR POCKET A's or K's AFTER THE FLOP! even if everyone checks the hand to you.................................PERIOD.
Read the following carefully:
High cards are of course "normally" best, but to advance in EARLY no limit tournaments is to catch the TWO PAIR or higher FLOPS EARLY and then make those players HOLDING a pair of ACE'S pay for it.
So called "Weaker Players" can't seem to ever get away from the big starting hands like POCKET ACES or K's etc. DURING EARLY TOURNEMENT PLAY.
When you hit the TWO PAIR ON THE FLOP then you’ll likely see some action against the player holding FACE CARD POCKETs or POCKET ACE'S, the high single pair holder will more than often lead you to an all-in bet ccompletely unaware of the EARLY TWO PAIR FLOPS SYNDROME that's stalking against players holding Pocket A's and Face Card Pockets.
You need to be very mindful of these almost certain possibilities and play each poker hand to these situations as the betting dictates, you should know by now that your opponent does not expect you to be on a set of middle card (3 of a kind) FLOPs or the TWO PAIR lower cards on the flop you will be given.
Continue to see 75% or more of these early flops and always bet the top pair and 2 pair hands.
Look for players poker trap bets such as large re-raises, or players calling the turn who then follow up by an aggressive bet w/a re-raise and large bets after the turn.
Watch those in early position betting heavily pre-flop... These are the Pocket A's and Face Card Pocket pair players.... what they assume are better cards and will usually bet them large.
You should call these bets and continue with this poker strategy throughout EARLY game play.
PLAYING THE MIDDLE CARDS OFTEN and cards like Q/7off suit etc. do this until the blinds move up above 50. TWO PAIR FLOPS WILL DOMINATE PLAY EARLY AND SHOULD WIN YOU THE BIG POTS against those holding High pocket pairs.
Remember, THIS strategy accounts for probably 90% of your success at the tournements. The rest is up to lady luck. |

| What about going all in pre flop with pocket AA or KK ? surely that should force the rest to fold unless they hold a smaller pocket pair. |
