The Threat To Online Poker Is Real, many recent events including the arrest of Paradise Poker CEO Peter Dicks shows us this. The time to take a stand for what you love is now. Online Rounders will join many other online poker forums and the Poker Players Alliance this Tuesday, September, 12th 2006 in calling our state Senators from 9:00AM ET,-5:30PM ET, to get our point of view out in the open. We will win this fight in numbers, so do not be that dumb to think someone will make this call for you. If you play Online Poker you for sure should make this call, or the sport you play every day may be gone for good. Take the time these next few days to talk about this in any online poker sites you play at. Please repost this in other poker Forums and in online poker sites. MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD! I have posted all the info you will need below, Thanks for the support. RED
On Tuesday from 9:30 ET to 5:30pm ET, we encourage everyone to call 800-289-1136. This is a FREE phone call and will connect you directly to your Senators' offices. You will be connected to one of your two Senators' offices. Here are some talking points for you to use:
1. I am voter in your state.
2. I strongly oppose any legislation that would prohibit online poker, and urge the Senator to vote against such legislation.
3. Poker is a skill game enjoyed by 70 million Americans.
4. The Senator should seek to regulate online poker much like the government regulates other forms of gaming, like lotteries.
5. Prohibitions don't work. Any legislation that tries to ban online poker will only drive those players underground.
6. Again, I urge the Senator to oppose any attempts to prohibit me from playing the great American game of poker on the Internet.
Together, we need to help keep the current bill in Congress, H.R. 4411, controversial. Doing this will prevent it from being passed. This means YOU can continue to enjoy online poker in the United States.
Also send your letters if you have not yet done so, this is free to do. Just go to ****. pokerplayersalliance.*** ~RED. *** PLEASE REPOST!!*** |

tdub,
Peter Dicks is the CEO of SportingBet which happens to own a poker room. SportingBet in taking wagers of chance from American players on the outcome of a sporting event is the reason he was arrested. The state of Louisiana alleges that he has committed an offence against their state law for allowing this activity. It's not an arrest in connection with poker which is a skill game.
Its up to Americans and the people they vote in to decide whether they are allowed to bet or not, and if so, the allowable medium. I'm not American so it's not an issue for me personally. This website is very clear in it's position that no matter where in the world you happen to be the onus is on you the surfer to comply with the law in your jurisdiction. |
