| Hi graywolf, unfortunately it is one thing you can pretty much guarantee..... you WILL lose on occasions. It is better to come to terms with that then to keep it on your mind while you play. Don't get me wrong though, always play as if you are going to win but if you play with the fear of losing always it will get picked up on and you will end up losing your stack.... bit by bit perhaps. Being 'aware' of losing is ok, but don't fear it. Play tight and in freerolls to slowly get used to playing against others and see how others play. GL |

| Agree with Chumley - no matter how good you get, there will always be occasions when you will lose. If you can't afford then I'd advise you don't play. |

LOL. Just to get your attention. Remember to play at stakes a little lower than you can afford; that helps take the pressure off. Also, get used to bad beat suckouts that get you knocked out. This WILL happen. They seem to come in streaks for me, so psych yourself up to handle the TILT that is sure to follow. Good-Luck. |

Wow My husband told me the same. I was always afraid to call or bet with the fear of "not winning". I would lose anyway, so I was reading something that Doyle Brunson wrote and he was talking about this same thing He said it was a game of chance and sometimes you have to go out on a limb or you will never get anywhere. So I said what the heck? Whats the worse that can happen ?
I can lose but yet again I can win. Remember there are a lot of good bluffers so I figure why not If I keep worrying about what everyone else has then I will have nothing.
Go For It !!!
Hope this makes sence and helps
Good Luck to you

| Well playing poker is a gamble. If you are that afraid your best choice is to play in small ring games or freerolls to start off. The way to make the big bucks is buyin tourneys or the high dollar ring games. I definitely love participating in those. |

Well put. They don't call it "gambling" for nothing, though your ROI for poker is much higher than any game you can wager your money on. That being said, you should play within your means, and not invest any money into poker that you're not willing to lose.
All of us have bad stretches where we can't seem to win, and it's times like these where playing within your means is crucial to your overall success as a poker player.
I also agree that large buy-ins are where the true money is, but if your budget only allows you the opportunity to play small buy-ins or freerolls, then stick to that and accumulate enough money to play higher stakes. Also, there are quite a few extremely lucrative low buy-in tournaments and or freerolls (our own $1k Tournament at Titan Poker for example) where you can make good money for little to no investment. |

| I suggest you only play with freeroll money and never deposit your own cash unless it is for the purpose of establishing a withdrawable account. If one can't build their bankroll by freerolling they are unlikely to be successful at online poker. Over 90% of the people that play are are net losers because of high rake fees. Be part of the 10% and only play with freeroll money and winnings you accumulate by playing with that freeroll money. |

Give this man a cigar.
I LIVE by the above statement. I have a modest Bankroll on approx. 8 different poker sites, and all of my bankrolls are from freeroll earnings.
I cashed out 1000$ on CD Poker. |

I found that when I first started playing poker I was afraid of the same thing. Then I read somewhere, the key to successful poker is minimizing your losses, and maximizing your wins. In other words you wont win every pot. You have to be able to put your opponent on a hand. Also, watch betting patterns, and know your opponent, are they loose, tight, maniac?
hope helps some |

if you loose, the only thing you'll lose is the chips in front of you. this is not the game where you gamble everything else (unless u wanna gamble your mother-in-law). go ahead. you'll only lose the money infront of you,and not your whole wallet.
NO IOUs PLEASE! |

| Fear is an enemey. You will lose with too much fear. Think about the situation and make the best choice based on statistics and psychology. |
