| Player 2 wins the hand with his King kicker. It's pretty simple to figure out. Both players play the pair of Jacks and pair of 10s. The player with the bigger 5th card wins the hand. |

Thanks Guest, and quite correct.
There are situations where it's less obvious. Take a look at the "Kickers" section of Poker Help box on the left hand side - I spent quite a while setting it all out. |

Your friend was wrong. This hand was won by player 2 with the King high kicker. Best 5 cards are JJ99K which beats your JJ997. The fact that you have a pair of 7's left over is irrelevant here. The winner is the holder of the best 5 of 7.
If the best 5 are the same for both players then the pot is split.
The only situation where the pot is not won by the best 5 is where you have two players both with a flush and the highest card within that flush is on the board (i.e both have a Q high flush but it is not the same flush QJ765 vs Q9762 for example). In this very rare situation the pot is split. See the split pot and kickers section in the poker help box on the left. |

| say i the five community cards are a 6,6,Q,K,4 and i have a Q,7 and the other person has a Q,J. This should be a split pot because the best five cards are a 6,6,Q,Q,K right? |
