Well, the reason is that you come from the wrong part of the world. Your government has decided that you should not play poker and I'm not going to assist you in breaking laws that apply to USA citizens.
The actual law passed by your House, Senate and President says that it is illegal for a financial institution to take payment to an online poker provider so most of them left the USA market (it's an attachment to the recently passed Ports Security Act). The only exception on my site at this time appears to be Doyles. It is not illegal for you to play for free, but if you want to play for real money then as an American you'll find it increasingly difficult to do so as banks, online financial providers like Neteller, and poker room providers pull out of the USA market.
None of that affects the rest of us non-USA citizens who live in a society where we are free to enjoy poker wherever and whenever we choose. Sorry, but it was good playing against you. |

As WebM says, Doyles Room is a good place for US players. However, there are many other rooms to choose from also.
So far as a conduit for depositing/transferring money, Western Union and ePassporte are both still available for US players. Certain sites have other arrangements as well.
As a 'general' statement, only those financial institutions and poker sites who are publicly traded, mostly on the London Exchange, will be forced to follow the letter of the new US law. Privately held poker sites such as Doyles, have made the decision to continue to serve their US customers.
The HOW and WHY of the new law has little to nothing to do with us playing poker. This law was tacked onto a PORT SECURITY bill and passed on a Saturday night. Who pushed this bill ?? The NFL owners is who !! The NFL owners were after the on-line sports books and we poker players just got hit by the splatter. At this time, expect little to no anti-poker enforcment from the US government. The changes we have seen thus far, were forced on the publicly traded companies by the exchanges where their stock is traded and not by the US gov.
