I've been asked a number of times what happens when you show your cards early by accident - for example after the turn but before the River.
Official rules for this situation state that the hand continues as though you hadn't showed. Obviously you are now at a massive dissadvantage because your opponents now know the cards you hold. Do it twice and you are banned from the game and in a tournament would forfeit your chips.
