At the showdown, Player 1 shows a 3 of a kind. Player 2 then mucks his cards and states, "Take it down". One card accidentally flips face up on the table revealing a Q of spades that completes a flush. Who wins the pot? Any idea what would happen in a casino? Keep in mind that player 2 called all the way to the end.

I've seen this a few times. Every player is free to fold anything at any time. As soon as you muck it's game over regardless of what you had. In a real casino or a home game the winner here is Player 1 with three of a kind. The fact that Player 2 called all the way to the end makes no difference here.
Obviously in a home game there'll be an argument at this point but at the end of the day there's no going back on it.
