Post subject: Texas vs Omaha

Confused:

Hi everyone,

I've only every played Texas Hold'em poker online.

Can anyone help me to understand the main differences between Texas and Omaha before I try it.

Which is the best to play online

Omaha is a variant of holdem, the main difference being that you have many more possibilities to consider. Each player is dealt FOUR cards face down instead of Two. Then the five card flop comes out, as with Texas Holdem, but you now have Nine cards from which you make your best five card hand. Adding the extra two cards may not sound like much but it changes the game quite dramatically. Flush's and Straights are commonplace, you often lose with three of a kind and Full Houses can be par for the course on a ten hand table.

It is a very interesting game, but if you're new to poker in general then I'd suggest you see it as a progression from Texas Holdem. Cool
