Post subject: split pots

six people playing no limit.cards have been delt.player one goes all in with 60 chips, player 2calls the 60 and raises to 80 chips, player 3 calls thoose two bets and raises to 85 chips, player 4 only has 5 chips and calls the bets.so if player 4 has the best hand where does he pull his chips from.and who gets the rest of the pot.same with player 3,and player 2.this also means we have 4 differnt pots right? Hi Todd,

ok so player 3 with the short stack wins 20 (his 5*4 in the pot). The rest goes to the winner of the sidepot. In your example there could be several sidepots as there are a few allins. If player 1 wins the sidepot he'll win 180 (60*3). The third pot goes to the winner of the remainder (player 2 or 3). If player 3 wins that one then player 2 is out. If player 2 wins that sidepot then player 3 gets a refund of 85 (his raise over all others).

Its rare to see such complexity in a pot but it can happen.
